PARAFERNALIA AND MILANO DESIGN OF THE ‘70

Parafernalia is an Italian design brand. It stands out for creativity, style, aesthetics and functionality of its pens and accessories models since 1968.

The scenario is this: the 70s in Milan, symbol of the avant-garde and of design, of new movements and trends, the years of pop Design, characterized by bright colors and organic forms, of new materials such as plastic abs, the years of a new society, far from the past.

It is in this new Milan, in Brera, that the Parafernalia company was born as a store specializing in the sale of objects and the importation of various gadgets from London.

Then it becomes a meeting place for different designers with whom Parafernalia starts collaborations for the production of its own objects. The first results are furnishing accessories, such as lamps, ornaments and gadgets.

Only in the early 1970s did the production of writing instruments begin when the magazine Domus expressed to Parafernalia the desire to design and make a pen to be included in the special edition magazine. It is the designer Sergio Carpani who carries out the project, giving life to "AL 13".

A new market, new projects, new tools, new collaborations.
